When I was in high school I wanted to be a professional writer but forces took me in another direction, to a PhD and a career in psychology as a therapist, researcher, journal editor, presenter, educator and author. As far as writing self-help books is concerned, I’ve written 10 books, videos and workbooks in my own name (and more than 20 others as a co- or ghostwriter) on such topics as wellness, communication, relationships and sports performance. While writing these books my writing skills complemented my psychological expertise and experience. That same expertise and experience now complements my professional psychology and neuroscience writing. I write across different genres: memoirs, business books, self-help, academic, fiction and screenplays. I’ve ghostwritten books on many different subjects from neuroscience to management, from leadership to football. And all were informed by my understanding of the mind and the brain. I combine science writing with creative writing to produce material that both informs and inspires.
